Marina Yermakova Timm – Victory over the Sun

Crescent Tree Gallery is pleased to present Marina Yermakova Timm: Victory Over the Sun. The exhibition opens on September 2, 2023 and will run through October 30, 2023, with an opening reception on Saturday, September 2 from 6 PM to 9 PM. The reception is free and open to the public.

Russian-born LA-based collage artist Marina Yermakova Timm’s work combines geometric compositions with a variety of paper textures, torn edges, and repeating patterns. Her practice is concerned with the “exaltation and despair of our interconnected daily lives and the absurd banality of it all.” Her limited color palette allows viewers to explore the interaction between shapes and forms, while bold colors and stark patterns express an inner strength and stability.

Marina cites Russian avant-garde artists like Malevich and Rodchenko, as well as the Dadaist movement as primary influences.

Born in Vladivostok, Russia, Marina Yermakova Timm currently lives and works in Los Angeles and has exhibited at ArtShare in the Los Angeles Arts District, The Brand Library and Art Center in Glendale, studio.gallery.lb in Long Beach, and Chicago’s Fluffy Crimes. This exhibition marks her first solo show in Los Angeles. She has two children and four cats.
